The
Howard County Autism Society was awarded the Family Advocacy and
Parent Education (FAPE) Program Grant by the Howard County Department of
Citizen Services for 2009-2010. The grant was established in 2002 to help
Howard County families who have children with disabilities understand the
special education delivery system.
FAPE
is not an autism-specific program. The program serves all families who have
children with special education needs by providing individualized support, as
well as offering workshops on special education topics. A parent to parent matching program is also an important part of the FAPE grant. If you are interested in serving as a mentor parent, please inquire about our Parent University program.
The
grant, previously administered by Parents Place of Maryland, has been directed
since 2002 by Parents for Parents co-founder, Julie Foley. Parents for Parents, Inc. will now administer
the FAPE grant for the Howard County Autism Society. Ms. Foley and Ms. McKay will serve as co-directors
of the grant. See Services, Workshops and Forum pages on this website for more information. Use our "Contact Us" form or call us at 410-465-1193 for assistance.
All services are provided free to residents of Howard County.
